Workshop on Trans-Humanities Research Frameworks in the Era of Artificial Intelligence

The Department of English and Foreign Languages (DEFL), University of Swat, in collaboration with the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Swat, and Dosti Welfare Organization, successfully organized a one-day academic workshop titled “Trans-Humanities Research Frameworks: Reassessing Academic Writing in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.” The workshop provided a vibrant platform for scholars and researchers to explore emerging research paradigms and academic writing practices in the rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim appreciated the initiative of the Department of English and Foreign Languages under the leadership of Dr. Syed Hanif Rasool Kakakhel, Chairman, DEFL. He emphasized the increasing importance of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Humanities, and market-oriented research competencies in higher education, urging scholars to embrace innovative research approaches to meet contemporary academic and professional challenges.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Syed Hanif Rasool Kakakhel reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to promoting a dynamic research culture through scholarly dialogue, experiential learning, and practical academic engagement beyond the traditional classroom environment. He noted that such initiatives equip researchers with the critical skills needed to navigate the evolving demands of AI-driven academia.

The workshop featured insightful keynote addresses by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ilyas Khan, Chairman, Department of Education, Hazara University, Mansehra, who delivered a lecture on “Conducting Quality Research: From Paradigms to Methodologies,” and Dr. Amjad Saleem, Chairman, Department of English and Modern Languages, Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, Haripur, who presented “Research in Linguistics: Exploring Fresh Perspectives.” Their sessions highlighted innovative methodologies, interdisciplinary research frameworks, and emerging opportunities for academic inquiry in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

The event brought together more than 120 scholars, including 44 MPhil scholars from the Department of English and Foreign Languages, University of Swat, as well as participants from Bacha Khan University Charsadda, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, COMSATS University, National University of Modern Languages (NUML), and the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The workshop fostered rigorous academic discussions on research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the integration of AI into humanities research.

The Department also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Mr. Zakir Ullah, Workshop Secretary, whose commitment and coordination played a pivotal role in the successful organization and execution of the event.
