The Office of the Controller of Examinations serves as the central custodian of all examination records of the University. The office is guided by core values that emphasize transparency in the conduct of examinations, confidentiality of official and privileged documents, accuracy in assessment, and a strong commitment to providing reliable and student-focused services.
Since its establishment in 2010, the Examination Section has been managing the Semester System of Examinations for Associate Degree, BS, MS/MPhil, and PhD programs. It supports students of the University’s constituent Departments, Centers, Institutes, Colleges, and Sub-Campuses, as well as students enrolled in affiliated public and private sector colleges. The section also oversees the external evaluation of BS programs of affiliated colleges to ensure that academic standards and quality benchmarks are consistently met.
In addition to conducting examinations, the office is responsible for the timely declaration of results, preparation and issuance of transcripts, degrees, and other academic certificates, as well as their verification. It also arranges University convocations and facilitates related academic processes. With the continued support of University authorities and the dedicated efforts of its staff, the Office of the Controller of Examinations remains committed to maintaining integrity, efficiency, and trust in all examination-related activities.
Functions of the Examination Section
Throughout the academic year, the staff of the Examination Section works closely with students, faculty, and academic units to ensure that all examination-related processes run smoothly and fairly. Their key responsibilities include:
- Registering regular students and assigning roll numbers
- Organizing and conducting semester examinations for Associate Degree, BS, MS/MPhil, and PhD programs
- Preparing and declaring semester-wise results in a timely and transparent manner
- Coordinating viva-voce examinations for theses, internship reports, and research projects at the completion of degree programs
- Preparing and issuing final transcripts (DMCs) for students appearing in various examinations
- Issuing degrees to graduates after successful completion of their programs
- Providing provisional and migration certificates to facilitate further studies and professional needs
- Verifying transcripts, DMCs, degrees, and other academic documents for official use
- Managing academic distinctions, including merit certificates and gold medals
- Planning and organizing University convocations
- Compiling and sharing academic data required for HEC reporting and merit-based scholarships
- Supporting external evaluation and quality assurance activities to maintain academic standards
To further improve efficiency and student facilitation, the Examination Section is in the final stages of implementing an automated examination management system. This advancement is expected to streamline workflows, improve record management, and enhance transparency, enabling the section to better meet the needs of students in an evolving academic environment.
