Department of Media and Communication Studies
he Department of Media & Communication Studies was established in October, 2012. Since its inception its growth and progress both in terms of faculty, students, equipment and space have been quite impressive. The Department has recently produced its 1st Batch which is capable to meet the challenges ahead. The Department is committed to quality teaching and research, addressing diverse dimensions of practical journalism.
The scope and market demand of the discipline remained diverse in Pakistan for the last one decade. Graduates produced by different media studies departments across Pakistan have been duly accommodated in the field.
The programme of Journalism in the University of Swat is designed to produce media professionals and researchers. The curriculum is designed to meet both the challenges effectively. Modern journalism courses and up-dated skills have been incorporated in the curricula.
The Department provides a variety of platforms, professional trainings and career opportunities. Various platforms like Campus Radio and Campus Bulletin have been provided to the students where they acquire journalistic skills.
The Department regularly holds seminars and workshops where prominent working journalist and scholars are invited to share their knowledge and experiences with students.
The Department arranges exposure visits to various media outlets in Pakistan. The purpose of these visits is to introduce its students with newsroom and field environment.

BS Program
The Department of Media & Communication Studies intends to start BS (4 year) program this year. The aim of the program is to produce a cap of graduates who can meet the field challenges. During the 4-year stay in the department students will be equipped with theory and practicals.
Eligibility: HSSC or equivalent with minimum 45% marks
