- QEC is responsible for promoting public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded.
- QEC is responsible for the review of quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.
- QEC is responsible for the review of academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs.
- QEC is responsible for defining clear and explicit standards as points of reference to the reviews to be carried out. It should also help the employees to know as to what they could expect from candidates.
- QEC is responsible to develop qualifications framework by setting out the attributes and abilities that can be expected form the holder of a qualification, i.e. Bachelors, Bachelor with honors, Master’s, M.Phil., Doctoral.
- QEC is responsible to develop programs specifications. These are standards set information clarifying what knowledge, understanding, skills & others attributes a student will have developed on successfully completing a specific program.
- QEC is responsible to develop quality assurance process and methods of evaluation to affirm that the quality of provision and the standards of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities.
- QEC is responsible to ensure that the university’s quality assurance procedures are designed to fit in with the arrangements in place nationally for maintaining and improving the quality of Higher Education.
- QEC is responsible to develop procedures for the following:
- Approval of new programs
- Annual monitoring and evaluation including program monitoring, such as faculty monitoring and student’s perception
- Review
- Student feedback
- Employer feedback
- Quality assurance of Master’s, M.Phil, and Ph.D degree programs

AN INTERACTIVE SESSION ON GRADUATE EDUCATION POLICY 2023 DELIVERED TO DEANS, DIRECTORS, REGISTRAR, COE, FACULTY & ADMINISTRATIVE HEADS AT UNIVERSITY OF SWAT BY DIRECTOR QEC ON 21 NOVEMBER 2024
The Director QEC, Dr. Muhammad Tariq prepared an interactive presentation and presented it before the Deans, Directors, registrar, Controller of Examination, Faculty and Administrative heads of the University of Swat. The interactive session was organized as per the directives of Vice chancellor, University of Swat in the light of HEC-QAA instructions to spread awareness regarding the Graduate education Policy, 2023 effective from 10th July 2023 onward. The Director QEC gave a head to tail overview of the GEP-2023 highlighting key terms and concepts regarding retroactive application, force majeure, teacher-student ratio, supervisory processes, graduate degree related publication requirements as well as the concept of retributive justice and grievance management system for university scholars. The participants will not hold cascading sessions with their concerned staff, faculty members and students of graduate degree programs to ensure commitment to HEC-QAA policies.
One day Training Program organized by QEC for faculty members and Sub Campuses on 20th May, 2024.
The theme of training was “Embracing Change: Exploring the Link Between Quality Culture and the Revised PSG-2023 Framework” with Lt Cdr ® Dr. Mahmood Khan, Director QEC, Hazara University Mansehra and Dr. Aurangzeb Deputy Director QEC HU, Mansehra as external resource persons. The Vice Chancellor, University of Swat Professor Dr. Hassan Sher was the Chief Guest on the occasion who distributed shields of appreciation and certificates of participation among the resource persons and participants of the training workshop. The Vice Chancellor, appreciated the efforts of Directorate of Quality Enhancement Cell for arranging a useful seminar for the faculty and staff members of the university of Swat and sub campuses. He also thanked the resource persons for their time and knowledge sharing and urge for more collaborative endeavours at QEC levels in future between university of Swat and University of Hazara, Mansehra.
