University of Swat Senate Approves Rs. 1217 Million Budget Estimates for FY 2026–27, Endorses Financial Reports and Key Academic Reforms
The Senate of the University of Swat, met under the chairmanship of the Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Archives and Libraries, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Meena Khan, to review and approve key financial and administrative matters.
The Senate approved the actual expenditure of Rs. 848.275 million for the financial year 2024–25, actual expenditure of Rs. 959.059 million for the financial year 2025–26, and budget estimates of Rs. 1,217.018 million for the financial year 2026–27. The approved budget is aimed at strengthening teaching, research, infrastructure development, student services, and the University’s long-term strategic priorities.
The Senate commended the University administration for undertaking significant measures to enhance institutional revenue and successfully implementing the Double Entry Accounting System, describing these initiatives as major steps toward strengthening financial governance and ensuring efficient utilization of public resources.
In another important decision, the Senate approved the remuneration for MPhil and PhD supervisors in recognition of the vital role played by faculty members in promoting quality postgraduate education and research.
The Senate approved the Adhoc Relief Allowance 07% announced by KP Government in the 2026 budget, merging of Adhoc Relief Allowance 2022 and Adhoc Relief Allowance 2025 in basic Pay and 50% increase in Conveyance Allowance. While 07% increase in Pension as announced by the KP Government in the Budget.
The Senate further noted that the grant of the Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA) shall remain subject to the decisions of the Standing Committee applicable to all public sector universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Meena Khan, appreciated the progress made by the University of Swat in strengthening its financial management and academic standards. He stated that the provincial government remains committed to supporting public sector universities and emphasized that transparent governance, sound financial planning, and quality education are essential for producing competent graduates capable of contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim thanked the Chair and the honourable members of the Senate for their continued guidance and confidence in the University’s leadership. He said that the approval of the financial reports, budget estimates, and other decisions reflects the University of Swat steady progress towards academic excellence and institutional sustainability.
