The Department of Applied Physical and Materials Sciences at the University of Swat organized a highly informative one-day workshop on optics and optical fiber communications to celebrate 2023 as the International Year of Light. The event took place on December 8, 2023, at the Department of Applied Physical and Materials Science, University of Swat. The Vice-Chancellor University of Swat, Prof. Dr. Hasan Sher (SAARC Gold medalist), was the chief guest of the occasion. The workshop brought together students, faculty, and experts to delve into the intricacies of these cutting-edge technologies. Distinguished speakers, Professor Dr. Imrana Ashraf from QAU Islamabad, a Senior Research Fellow at ICTP Italy, and Dr. Muhammad Zahid, former DG NESCOM, were invited to share their insights.
The presentations covered a wide range of topics, including the fundamentals of optics and applications of optical technologies.
