The University of Swat (UoS) in collaboration with the Virtual University of Pakistan (VU) successfully conducted a four-day training boot camp-1 to equip the faculty and staff at the University of Swat (UoS) with skills to integrate Generative AI into educational practices. More than 80 people attended the training from both universities, which was centered on AI technologies and their practical applications. Participants were keen to learn more about the revolutionary possibilities of AI in higher education.
The concluding ceremony was attended by distinguished faculty and staff members from both institutions, whereas, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher (SAARC Gold Medalist), Vice Chancellor of the University of Swat attended the event as Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Mohsin Javed, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology; Registrar, VU, Dr. Raja Fakhar Ul Inam, Director of Quality Enhancement; and Dr. Tanveer Hussain, Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences were also in attendance.
Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher emphasized in his keynote speech the critical role artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to play in reshaping education. He highlighted the value of such programs in strengthening Pakistan’s educational system through technological innovation and praised the Virtual University’s delegation for their knowledge and teamwork in planning the boot camp. The Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohsin Javed, expressed gratitude to the University of Swat for this chance. He also mentioned how this training has created new opportunities for incorporating AI into the curriculum. On behalf of Virtual University, Dr. Tanveer Hussain concerning the successful arrangements and facilitation also applauded the efforts of the Hon. Vice Chancellor and his team including Focal Person, Boot Camp Dr. Imran (Assistant Professor of Sociology, Head, DS&GS &), Mr. Hamdullah Younis (Director, Directorate of IT, UoS), Prof. Dr. Najeeb ur Rahman (Dean, Faculty of Chemical Sciences, UoS), Prof. Dr. Hazrat Bilal (Director, CMC, UoS), Mr. Fayyaz Ahmad Khan (Treasurer, UoS) respectively.
