World Environment Day, June 5, 2023, was celebrated by the Department of Social and Gender Studies, University of Swat, in collaboration with Pakistan Council of World Religions-FF, and LASOONA. In this regard, Seminars, models’ exhibition, and awareness walk were held at University of Swat. Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher, Vice Chancellor, University of Swat, was the Chief Guest. Apart from students and faculty, other guests on the occasion included Prof. Dr. Rashid Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, University of Malakand, Qari Rooh Ullah Madani, Chairman PCWR-FF Peshawar, Mr. Azam Khan, Executive Director LASOONA, Miss Khadija Bano of GIZ and Dr. Imran (Chief Organizer), In-Charge Department of Social and Gender Studies, University of Swat.
The Vice Chancellor in his speech said that World Environment Day is an essential occasion that highlights the significance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices on a global scale. It serves as a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect and preserve the environment for future generations. This day provides an opportunity for individuals, communities, and organizations to come together and raise awareness about pressing environmental issues, such as climate change, deforestation, pollution, and loss of biodiversity. By celebrating World Environment Day, we acknowledge the interconnectedness of our actions with the health of the planet and recognize the urgent need for collective action to address these challenges.
