National Resilience Day Observed at University

Mingora (Press release): National Resilience Day Observed by Office of the Social Work Program, University of Swat in collaboration with UNDP and PDMA
University of Swat, Office of the Social Work Program in collaboration with UNDP and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) observed National Resilience Day on October 08, 2021 at Charbargh Campus. The main aim of celebrating the day was to remember the martyrs of October 08, 2005 earthquake. A seminar followed by plantation drive and mock drill by the Rescue 1122 Swat were carried out. These activities were held under the GLOF-II project sponsored by green climate change and the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a joint venture.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jamal Khan Vice Chancellor University of Swat in his welcome speech welcome the distinguished guests and participants of the occasion and briefed the audience regarding the importance of the national resilience day.
The Chief Guest of the occasion, Mr. Judat Ayaz, Additional Federal Secretary, Ministry poof Climate Change, Project Director of GLOF-II shed light on the basic philosophy of GLOF-II project and put emphasis on awareness initiatives concerning the negative impacts of climate change particularly disaster resilience.
On this occasion, Ms. Zuhra Nigar, Director, PDMA, Mr. Fahad Bangash, Provincial Coordinator, GLOF-II also expressed their views with regard to the main theme of the event and the role playing by their respective organizations in this regard.
Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Swat in his closing remarks summed up the multifaceted dimensions of climate change and its challenges. The Pro Vice Chancellor expressed his cordial thanks to the all the participants especially to the Chief Guest (Mr. Judat Ayaz), Vice Chancellor (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jamal Khan), Dean, Faculty of Chemical Sciences (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Khan), and Dr. Imran (In-Charge, Social Work Program, University of Swat) respectively.
At the end, the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean, ICS presented shields to the visiting guests.
