The recent circulation of selective excerpts from the HEC ORIC Validation Report regarding the University of Swat does not fully reflect the broader institutional context and the progressive trajectory of the University’s research and innovation ecosystem.
It is important to highlight that the ORIC of the University of Swat achieved formal registration only in 2023 and successfully entered the national ORIC evaluation framework thereafter. The very inclusion of the University in the HEC ORIC assessment process reflects institutional commitment towards strengthening research governance, innovation culture, and academic quality assurance in accordance with national higher education standards.
The current evaluation is being viewed positively as a constructive benchmark for further institutional growth. The University of Swat has already initiated a comprehensive strategy focused on strengthening research productivity, innovation support, faculty and student capacity building, industry-academia linkages, and enhanced research facilitation mechanisms. A structured SWOT analysis and performance enhancement framework are also being developed to align ORIC operations more effectively with HEC’s evolving quality indicators.
The University remains confident that through sustained academic engagement, targeted training initiatives, research collaborations, seminars, conferences, and inter/intra-university partnerships, significant progress will be achieved in upcoming evaluation cycles. The administration considers this an opportunity for institutional strengthening rather than a setback.
University of Swat continues to uphold its commitment to academic excellence, research advancement, and contribution to the national higher education and innovation landscape.
