Malakand Division Universities

Introduction

There are 10 Universities in Malakand Division. In view of the opportunities for natural cooperation among the universities of Malakand Division, there is a need for the establishment of a consortium of these universities. This Consortium (M-Varsities) will help universities regarding resource sharing, joint research, research collaboration, joint student supervision, inter-library book loans, organizing workshops and conferences, student & faculty exchange, sharing best practices, intellectual property rights policy, and innovation & commercialization.

The mission of the consortium is to foster inter-university collaboration across academic, research, and co-curricular domains; enhance the quality of education through shared resources, joint faculty development, and cross-institutional learning; contribute to the socioeconomic uplift of Malakand Division by aligning academic programs with regional needs; promote peace, harmony, and national integration through education and youth engagement; and engage stakeholders in a collaborative strategic planning process that prioritizes innovation and sustainability.

Meeting I

Consultative Meeting of Malakand Division Universities Consortium held at UoM. The Secretary, HED Mr Dawood Khan, Prof Dr Rashid Ahmad, VC UoM & VCs of Malakand Division Varsities pledged for joint collaboration for the uplift of academic & research activities.

Meeting III

Third meeting of the Malakand Varsities Consortium was held at University of Swat

Third meeting of the Malakand Varsities Consortium (M-Varsities Consortium) was held today at University of Swat. The worthy Special Secretary Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department Mr. Sharif Hussain was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who also chaired the meeting. Other participants of the meeting included Vice Chancellors from all the participating universities of Malakand Division i.e. University of Swat, University of Malakand, University of Buner, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Sheringal, Dir Upper, University of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Swat, University of Agriculture, Swat, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Swat, while Principal Saidu Medical College also attended the meeting to represent Khyber Medical University, Peshawar.

The meeting discussed and finalized the working paper while the partner universities also signed the Letter of Intent (LoI), which was designed by Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher, Vice Chancellor, University of Swat to facilitate and leverage the collective strengths of these institutions to foster innovation, capacity building and socio-economic uplift in the region.

The meeting discussed in details the Key Objectives of the Consortium including Academic Collaboration, Research & Innovation, Faculty & Staff Development, Youth Engagement & Social Development, Policy Advocacy & External Linkages, Governance Structure, and Future Outlook of the consortium.

At the end of the meeting, all the participants thanked the Honourable Special Secretary Higher Education for sparing time and chairing the meeting. The participants also appreciated the Vice Chancellor University of Swat for arranging and hosting the meeting.
