The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), HEC, Islamabad in collaboration with the University of Swat has commenced a one-month faculty training program from November 4, 2024, here at Main Campus, Charbagh, University of Swat.
The sessions of the first two days (November 4-5, 2024) were covered by Mr. Suleman Ahmad (Director, NAHE) and Prof. Dr. Zeeshan Khattak from KUST (Resource Person, NAHE). Mr. Suleman Ahmad elaborated on the HEC policy frameworks in the areas of Students with Disabilities, Drug and Tobacco Use in HEIs, and Sexual Harassment in HEIs. Besides, Prof. Dr. Zeeshan Khattak explained the module on teaching as a profession in higher education.
It is pertinent to mention that the said training will continue till November 30, 2024, at the University of Swat wherein different resource persons will share their experiences with the participants.
The sessions were concluded by applauding the efforts, a vote of thanks, and a group photo by the participants and the resource persons with the Vice Chancellor, University of Swat (Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher, SAARC Gold Medalist).
University of Swat, in collaboration with the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), launched a four-week training program for faculty members under the National Outreach Program for Higher Education Faculty (Tier-I for Lecturers/Assistant Professors).
The inaugural event, held today, was attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. Sulaiman Ahmad, Director, NAHE, Mr. Muhammad Saleem Qamar, Deputy Director, NAHE, Mr. Nasir Shah, Director, Regional HEC Peshawar, and Mr. Zeeahan Khattak, Resource Person for the training.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Hassan Sher, expressed gratitude to Ms. Noor Amna Malik, Managing Director, NAHE, for awarding the project to the University of Swat. He emphasized the importance of faculty development in enhancing the quality of higher education.
Professor Hazrat Bilal, Training Coordinator, welcomed the guests and appreciated the encouragement and support from HEC.
The four-week training program aims to enhance teaching and learning skills, foster research and academic excellence, promote faculty development and mentorship, and strengthen institutional capacity building.
