Tree Plantation and Distribution Ceremony under the Monsoon Plantation Drive-2024 held on August 13, 2024 at the University of Swat
In continuation to the Monsoon Plantation Drive-2024, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher (SAARC Gold Medalist), Vice-Chancellor of the University of Swat (UoS), and Prof. Dr. Safia Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Peshawar, jointly planted Deodar saplings in front of the Administration Block at UoS and distributed the Deodar Saplings amongst students of different departments including Forestry, Botany, Forensic Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Sociology.
The ceremony was also attended by the faculty, staff, and guests including Mr. Imtiaz Ali (Registrar, UoS), Mr. Asghar Khan (Chief Conservator of Forests, Malakand Region-III), Mr. Muhammad Yaar (Assistant Commissioner, Charbagh), Prof. Dr. Anwar Hussain (Dean/Director, ORIC, UoS), Dr. Imran (Assistant Professor of Sociology & Focal Person, Youth Development Centre, University of Swat), Mr. Fida Hussain (Provost, UoS), Dr. Kifayatullah Khan (Chairman, Environmental & Conservation Sciences), Dr. Muhammad Israr (Associate Professor), and Dr. Sher Shah (Focal Person, Green Youth Movement Club, UoS).
This campus-wide tree-planting and distribution initiative seeks to enhance campus aesthetics, raise awareness of environmental issues, and advance sustainable development. The Deodar saplings represent both universities’ unwavering dedication to protecting the beauty of nature and creating a sustainable legacy.
