University of Swat observed the 77th Independence Day on August 14, 2024, here at Main Campus, Charbagh organized by Society for the Promotion of Social Sciences, Social Welfare and Awareness, University of Swat.
The day started with the recitation of the few verses of the Holy Quran by Mr. Hamid Ullah (Directorate of IT, UoS) followed by the Guard of Honor by University Security Guards and Flag hoisting. In addition, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher, Vice Chancellor, University of Swat along with Dr. Ahmad Ali Sirohey (Ambassador of Pakistan to Niger), Mr. Imtiaz Ali (Registrar, UoS), Mr. Fayyaz Ahmed Khan (Treasurer), Mr. Fida Hussain (Provost, UoS), Dr. Imran (In-Charge, Social and Gender Studies and Organizer of the Event), Dr. Sarfaraz Khan (Assistant Professor/Head of Pakistan Studies), Heads of Teaching & Administrative units, Faculty members and students were in attendance.
Dr. Sarfaraz Khan as the resource person of the event highlighted the contributions of our forefathers in the Independence movement of our beloved country Pakistan. Dr. Ahmad Ali Sirohey focused on the promoting the positive image of Pakistan around the globe. He further highlighted the strengths, diversity and achievements of Pakistan.
The Chief Guest (Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher) shed light on the importance of Independence Day. He emphasized on the roles and responsibilities of the students, faculty and staff in the development of Pakistan. The event concluded with a plantation activity led by the Chief Guest and Dr. Ahmad Ali Sirohey, participated in by the attendees.The Hon. Vice Chancellor applauded the efforts made by the organizers of the event and Dr. Imran (Assistant Professor of Sociology & In-Charge, Department of Social and Gender Studies, UoS) and Mr. Fida Hussain (Provost), UoS).
