MINGORA: The Head of Department of Media & Communication Studies, University of Swat, Jamal Ud Din, has completed his doctoral degree in Media and Communication Studies from International Islamic University Islamabad after successfully defending his research thesis.
The scholar wrote his research dissertation on topic, titled “Coverage of Foreign Policy Issues in Pakistani Media: Towards Contextual Model of Media-Foreign Policy Interaction”.
His thesis was evaluated by two foreign professors including Jake Lynch (Australia) and Dr. Blessing Makwambeni (South Africa). The external examiners were Professors Dr. Aslam Pervaiz (Gomal University) and Dr. Bakht Rawan, Associate Professor at Department of Mass Communication, Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad and internal examiner was Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean Social Sciences, IIU, Islamabad while he accomplished his research work in supervision of Prof. Dr. Shabir Hussain of Bahria University, Islamabad.
The public defense/ Viva Voce examination, which was held in the conferencce room of Faculty of Social Science, Internal Islamic University, Islamabad, was attended by a large number of academicians, who termed the research work as a great contribution in the field of journalism, especially in the specialized area of political communication. The scholar also keeps 12 years’ experience as working journalist, based in Peshawar, with different media organizations at national level.
