




On February 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM, an academically enriching and culturally significant event was held at the Department of English and Foreign Languages (DEFL), University of Swat (Theatre, New Block) in collaboration Dosti Peshawar Literature Festival (DPLF), Swat Chapter. The gathering reflected expanding intellectual and literary footprint in Swat and the wider region, creating a diverse space for dialogue on history, culture, education, and literary heritage. Initiatives such as DPLF 2026 continue to strengthen Swat’s cultural identity while promoting critical awareness and scholarly engagement among the youth.
The programme was thoughtfully structured into three segments. The first session featured a keynote address on “Swat’s Culture and History” delivered by Mr. Parwaish Shaheen Baba, highlighting the rich civilizational and cultural legacy of the valley. The second segment comprised a book talk on “Humanizing Language Teaching and Teacher Education in Transnational Spaces,” with Dr. Imdadullah Khan, Farooq Shah, and Syed Dawood Shah offering valuable academic insights into contemporary approaches to language, discourse, and transnational education.
The third session was devoted to the life, personality, and artistic contribution of the late Roghani Baba, with scholarly reflections shared by Sirajuddin Siraj and Ehsas Yousafzai, while Arbaz Hassas presented a selection of Roghani Baba’s poetry. The session was moderated by University of Swat alumnus Adil Arman, ensuring a smooth and engaging flow of discussion.
Prof. Dr. Syed Hanif Rasool Kakakhel, Chairman, Department of English and Foreign Languages and Organizer of DPLF, warmly welcomed the guests and students, emphasizing the DPLF’s role in revitalizing literary culture in Swat and nurturing a new generation of readers, writers, and intellectuals. The event concluded with the distribution of awards to the distinguished speakers and certificates to students. The active participation of both young men and women reflected the inclusive and progressive academic spirit. Following a group photo session, the gathering came to a graceful close, marking another impactful milestone in DEFL’s mission of cultural and intellectual revival across the region.
