Vice Chancellor University of Swat Participates as Guest of Honor in 70 Years Celebrations of Italian Archaeological Mission to Pakistan
Honorable Vice Chancellor, University of Swat, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher (SAARC Gold Medalist), participated as Guest of Honor in the celebrations marking 70 years of the Italian Archaeological Mission to Pakistan, held at Serena Hotel, Swat.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including His Lordship Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb (Honorable Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan), Prof. Dr. Miangul Mahmud Aurangzeb (Dean of Khyber Medical College, KMC), Dr. Abdul Samad (Secretary, Culture, Tourism, Archaeology and Museums, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Mr. Arshad Khan (Former Secretary, Higher Education Department), Mr. Aftab Rana (Managing Director, PTDC), along with numerous national and international dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher lauded the remarkable contributions of the Italian Archaeological Mission to Pakistan in the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Swat in particular, and Pakistan in general. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Dr. Luca Maria Olivieri, Director of the Italian Archaeological Mission to Pakistan, for his four decades of dedicated service towards the conservation and promotion of Pakistan’s archaeological heritage.
The Vice Chancellor also acknowledged and appreciated the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially the visionary leadership of Dr. Abdul Samad, for their tireless efforts in advancing regional archaeology and promoting tourism in the province.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher announced that the University of Swat is extending its collaboration with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Italian Archaeological Mission to Pakistan to further strengthen research, preservation, and promotion of the cultural and archaeological heritage of the region. This partnership aims to enhance academic cooperation, field research opportunities, and capacity building in the domains of archaeology, heritage conservation, and tourism development.
