The University of Swat observed Youm-e-Istehsal (یومِ استحصال) on 5th August 2025 to mark six years since the revocation of Article 370 by the Indian government, which stripped the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir of its special constitutional status. The day, nationally observed in Pakistan, serves to highlight the ongoing suppression and human rights violations faced by the Kashmiri people and is a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s unwavering support for their right to self-determination.
In this connection, the University of Swat organized a solidarity walk on campus. The walk commenced at 11:00 AM from the Administration Block, with enthusiastic participation from the faculty members, administrative staff, and students of the University. The walk was led by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher, who expressed profound concern over the continued siege, demographic changes, and curtailment of civil liberties in the occupied region.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher emphasized the importance of educating the youth about the Kashmir cause and the need to stand by the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir through all available diplomatic and humanitarian means. He reiterated that Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of the partition and the people of Pakistan will continue to raise their voice against injustice at all forums.
Participants held placards and banners bearing slogans in support of Kashmiri freedom and called upon the international community to take notice of the grave human rights situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir. The event concluded with special prayers for the safety, freedom, and well-being of the Kashmiri people.
