Launching Ceremony of the Project “Da Kali Ranra” (Gaon Ki Roshni) held at University of Swat
A project launching ceremony was organized at University of Swat on 22nd March, 2023 in Main Auditorium, University of Swat. The event was attended by Heads of various partners of the Gaon ki Roshni project which included top level representatives from Akhuwat, Hashoo Foundation, Centre for Excellence in Countering Violent Extremism organization (KPCVE) Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the University of Chitral. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor University of Swat thanked all the partner institutions for joining hands under the Gaon ki Roshni (da Kali Ranra) project to improve the socioeconomic status of people living in tehsils of Madyan, Khwazakhela, Mingora, Barikot and Charbagh. Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the pilot phase, 500 locals from Swat will have access to interest free loans through Akhuwaat. Moreover, Hashoo Foundation will train community members at University of Swat in order to set up their micro/small businesses with the help of faculty and staff from University of Swat. The Vice Chancellor reiterated his resolve to improve the teaching, research as well as improve the standard of living of residents in the catchment area of the University of Swat as part of its third mission of University. In the end the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Hassan Sher distributed shields of participation to Mr. Muhammad Kashif Irshad, Senior Manager, Centre for Excellence in Countering Violent Extremism KPCVE, Mr. Arshad Mehmood Project Manager Akhuwat Foundation, Miss Mehwish Afridi, Director Strategic Support Unit Hashoo Foundation, Vice Chancellor University of Chitral/Representative and other government delegates. The Vice Chancellor also thanked the local community members and Project Focal Person Dr. Muhammad Tariq Director QEC and his team members for their relentless efforts.
