Mingora(Press Release) ORIC University of Swat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The MoU was signed by Mr.Mahboob ur Rahman Registrar UoS & Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Deputy Secretary Operations PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The activities under the signed MoU will be executed by ORIC office in consultation of Focal Person for this collaboration Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Dean Faculty of Chemical Sciences University of Swat.
The collaboration between UoS &PRCS will be based on three thematic area; disaster risk reduction & climate change, first aid & emergency response services and youth &volunteers. Both the parties will ensure mutual collaboration for the mentioned thematic areas in the best interests of the parties and the communities at large. The PRCS will provide unpaid internship opportunities to the University of Swat students and students will be recruited as PRCS volunteers aswell.
Under this MoU a joint working group will be formed soon after signing MoU while university will provide it’s premises for conduction of trainings, seminars, conferences and other related events as defined by the joint working group.Both parties will develop plan of action with respect to disaster risk management and climate change adaptation. Furthermore, the parties will provide human resource (concerned staff of PRCS & students by University) in conduction of field activities related to the humanitarian interventions and response activities.
On this occasion Prof. Dr. Fazal Mabood Dean Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Mr. Asif Saud Jan Director ORIC and other senior officials of University of Swat and officials from PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were present.
