
· World Mental Health Day 10th Oct 2019 was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm at University of Swat; in order to raise awareness about mental health issue. Honorable Registrar, Mr. Mahboob Ur Rehman was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
· A Walk regarding Mental Health Awareness was organized from Department of Psychological Studies, Main Campus to Conference Hall, PTCL Campus, led by Faheem ud Din, (Head of Department), Ms. Roya, Mr. Salah uddin, Mr. Sagheer Ahmad (Deputy Provost), Dr. Amir Khan (Chief Proctor).
· In the welcome speech by the Head of Department, Mr. Faheem Uddin, the reasons for suicide and preventive measures were highlighted. He explained that “Suicide Prevention” is the theme of World Mental Health Day 2019. Depression will be the second major cause of death and disability by 2020 as reported by WHO. Severe depression and drug abuse may lead a person to suicide.
· Honorable Registrar, Mr. Mahboob Ur Rehman in his final remarks said that suicide is one of the burning issues of modern times. The main reason is faulty and negative thinking. Islamic belief system can act as a buffer against depression and other psychological issues.
