On the eve of celebrating International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26), Anti-Narcotics Society, University of Swat (UoS) organized a walk for creating awareness regarding drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Mr. Imran (Lecturer in Sociology & In-charge, Department of Social and Gender Studies), Organizer of the Anti-Narcotics Society, UoSexpressed that globally June 26 is observeas the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse. The theme for 2018 i.e. “Listen First - Listening to children and youth is the first step to help them grow healthy and safe”. Let’s join hands to curb this menace from our society, he added.
On this occasion, Dr. Fazli Rabbi (Provost and Director Admissions, UoS) urged students that they are the key stakeholders of the society whereas it is our prime social responsibility to create awareness within and outside the Campus of the University regarding the drug abuse and illicit trafficking. In addition, students from different departments / centers / institutes of the University also opined on the issue at hand.
