Mr. Imran (Lecturer in Sociology & In-charge, S&GS) along with his Students participated in Five Day International Certificate Course Training on Conflict Resolution & Peace-building organized by IPCS, UoP.
A Five Day International Certificate Course Training on Conflict Resolution & Peace-building was organized by Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS), University of Peshawar under UNDP Strengthening Rule of Law Project held on Dec 24-28, 2016 at PTDC Motel, Saidu Sharif, Swat. Mr. Imran, Lecturer in Sociology & In-charge, Department of Social & Gender Studies, University of Swat participated in this training.
The resource person of this training was Barrister Anil Naidoo (South Africa) who effectively the whole certificate course training. Faculty of IPCS, UoP and from other universities of the province participated in this training.
Dr. Jamil Ahmad Chitrali, Director, IPCS in his opening remarks welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest Speaker & the participants and shed light on the importance and background of the 1stCertificate Course Training. The IPCS in collaboration with UNDP will carried out series of trainings in this regard, he added.
Prof. Dr. JehanBakht, Vice Chancellor, University of Swat was the Chief Guest of the occasion.Education is one of the main factors in conflict resolution and peacebuilding which cannot be denied, he added. The role of IPCS, UoP is commendable in this regard and I congratulate them for organizing such a successful event which will equip the participants to better understand the concepts related to conflict resolution and peace-building.
At the end, the Chief Guest presented shield to Anil Naidoo and distributed certificates amongst the participants. Dr. Jamil presented shield to the Chief Guest and thanked him for sparing some moments from his valuable time for the event.
Further, after successful completion of the 1st training, Mr. Imran sent his students of MA and BS Sociology for participation in the 2ndCertificate Course Training on the same theme held at PTDC Motel, Saidu Sharif.Dr. Imran Ahmad Sajid, IPCS, UoP was the resource person of this training while Barrister Anil Naidooplayed his role as observer in the event.
Mr. MajeedMarwat, District Police Officer, Swat was the Chief Guest in the 2nd training. He explained the role of police Department in conflict resolution and peace-building in the area. Dispute Resolution Councils (DRC’s) in different police stations are playing their role effectively. Before going to court, usually the issuesare resolved between the parties. The DRC’s resolving the issues of people in an amicable manner, he added. At the end, the Chief Guest distributed certificates amongst the participants.
