The first meeting of the Board of Studies for Forensic Sciences was held on Thursday, April 05, 2018 in the Committee Room, University of Swat. The meeting was convened by Dr. Muhammad Israr, In-Charge, Department of Forensic Sciences, University of Swat.The meeting was attended by eminent experts including Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Suddle (white-collar crime expert and former IG Police), Prof. Basharat Hussain (Professor of Criminology, University of Peshawar), Dr. Allah Rakha (Head of Forensic Sciences Department, UHS Lahore), Dr. Muhammad Ilyas (Assistant Professor of Human Genetics, Hazara University), Dr. Sulaiman Shams (Assistant Professor of Biochemistry, AWKU Mardan) and others from the University of Swat. The Board appreciated the Syndicate, the Hon. Vice-Chancellor and the Department for launching Forensic Sciences programme. Dr. Suddle stated that it is the era of specialization and law enforcement agencies need to have specialists. The Department will help in filling this gap. The Board approved curricula for BS, MS and PhD in Forensic Science programmes. To enhance the capacity of professionals in law enforcement and related fields, the Board recommended to start certificate and diploma courses as well as evening programme. The Hon. Vice-chancellor thanked the guests for participating in the meeting. The meeting ended with vote of thanks by the Convener.
