Objective:

The recent advances in Computer Science have been key contributors to the information technology revolution. Computer software has gained tremendous importance and a huge software industry has evolved in the last two decades. Due to its industrial significance, research and development work in this discipline has also gained a lot of importance and substantial resources are being allocated for this purpose.

Aims:

The Department of Computer Science at University of Swat aims to provide education and training at all levels to contribute to the national pool of computer scientists who can meet the demands of the industry and the academia

BS Computer Science:

The BS program in Computer Science focuses on producing high quality computer scientists with a broad vision and strong social values. In order to produce graduates with a well-balanced personality, general awareness of social issues and basic reasoning capabilities, students are also required to take, in addition to core and elective courses of the discipline, a number of general courses in the area of humanities, social sciences, religion and ethics, languages and communication skills. The overall program provides a highly conducive environment and an excitement driven approach that encourages creativity to accomplish results.

Degree Duration/Credit hours:

This is a four year degree program comprising 8 semesters with minimum of 132 semester credit hours (SCH). There will be a fall and a Spring semester in each year.

Degree Requirements:

Each candidate for the BS Computer Science degree is required to complete successfully 130-132 credit hours including final project as development of software application and documentation of software analysis and design etc as thesis, as per the following detail:

Eligibility Criteria:

HSSC or Equivalent with Mathematics securing at least 50% marks in aggregate or Equivalent.


BS Software Engineering

The objective of the curriculum is to prepare students for professional careers and graduate studies with a balance between computing theory and practical application of software engineering concepts, methodologies, tools and technologies in the modern software development environments.
Graduates of such programs will be able to function as proficient software developers and effective team members. They will have grounding in communication, mathematics and science, and the cultural, historical, and social issues that influence and effect or relate to the development of high quality software systems. They will have knowledge and experience of software product engineering and engineering management and an understanding of professional issues and practices. Graduates will be able to understand and assess their own software engineering capabilities and performance.

Degree duration:

The BS Software Engineering Degree would be a 4-Year programme spread over 8 semesters and 130 to 132 credit hours.
