Overview of the Programme

This is an interdisciplinary programme designed to prepare students for careers in law enforcement agencies and forensic science laboratories. This programme offers a coherent curriculum that reflects the mission and goals of the programme and provides the student with the appropriate skills requisite for the bachelor’s degree. The goals of this programme are to produce graduates that can work as junior forensic scientists conducting casework examinations or prepare for advanced degrees in forensic science.

Career Opportunities

The undergraduate forensic science degree should not necessarily be viewed as a terminal degree but as a preparation for advanced degrees in forensic science. Most of the job prospects for these graduates are in government sector, particularly in various law enforcement agencies such as crime labs and police. Moreover, a demand is increasing in universities who are initiating the degree programmes in the field. Upon graduation, students may work in forensic laboratories as junior forensic scientists or join law enforcement and investigation agencies. In the near future, there may also be a demand for forensic laboratories in the private-sector where these graduates will be employed.
